90 years of experience making wines of quality prevents us from doing anything that is not conscientiously planned. The level of winemaking that we aim for has taken many years of hard work prior to the 2005 vintage. It is an important wine, respecting the tradition of one of the most important viticultural regions of the world. Nonetheless, we haven't forgotten what we look for in our finest work: innovation and winemaking creativity based on a scrupulous selection of the raw material. The vineyards, with a calcareous clay soil that maintains the warmth of the soil combined with the extreme climate typical of the region, form the basis of wine production where the classic wines are full bodied. The vineyards are protected from the winds by the hills that surround the Ebro valley, situated in the higher regions with less risk of frosts. Moreover the average age of the vineyards is between 20 and 25 years, an ideal age both from a production and a qualitative point of view. This year we have worked exclusively with Tempranillo, considered to be Rioja's indigeonous variety, but we don't rule out the potential of other varieties in the region in the future. |
